A. Village Capital Projects
1. Pierson Road Bridle Trail – 800’ east of South Shore to Southfields Road
Status Update: The Engineering Department is completing the design and construction documents. Construction is anticipated in September 2017.
2. South Shore Boulevard/Pierson Road Intersection Improvements
Status Update: The Work Order with Mock Roos for the intersection PD&E study and cost estimate development was approved at the April 12th Council meeting. The study kick off meeting was held on April 18th. Mock Roos is currently working on the intersection layout and the options for piping the canal.
3. Scott’s Place – Lighting and Shade Improvements
Status Update: The design for the lighting and security cameras is complete. Quotes are currently being obtained for this portion of the project.
The shade structure construction documents are complete and the permit has been issued. Two bids were received on Friday, June 9th. The bids are as follows:
- Shade America, Inc. $24,610.00
- Creative Shade Solutions, Inc. $32,800.00
Currently, staff is moving forward with the contract for Shade America. Construction will commence in July 2017.
4. Pierson Road / South Shore Blvd. Northbound Right Turn Lane Extension
Status Update: 100% design plans are complete. The bids were received on April 19th. Council approved the bid on May 9th. The purchase order/contract has been issued. A pre-construction meeting was held on June 7th. Construction commenced on July 5th.
5. Big Blue Trace/Barberry
Status Update: Survey work is complete. Presently, KHA submitted their proposal for design and permitting services. The Council will consider this consulting services proposal at the August 8th Council meeting.
The Engineering Department is also studying the roadway improvements near Wellington Elementary School to improve the drop off issue that currently exists in the right of way. This construction will be completed with the turn lane improvements project. Construction of this project is anticipated to commence in June 2018 after school is out for the summer.
6. Big Blue Trace/Wiltshire
Status Update: The design was completed by the Engineering Department. Council approved the construction proposal at the June 27th Council meeting. Construction commenced on July 5th as the contractor’s surveyor was laying out the project improvements.
7. Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 Canal Improvements
Status Update: Survey and design work are currently underway. Construction is anticipated to commence in March 2018.
8. Public Works Retention Area Project
Status Update: The project is on hold as the Public Works Site Master Plan is being developed.
9. Stribling Road/Fairlane Farms Road Round-a-Bout Landscape
Status Update: The irrigation pump, irrigation piping and sprinkler heads are complete. The control panel for the irrigation system has been received and installed. The landscaping is being installed. The project should be complete in July 2017.
10. Wellington Community Center
Status Update: The contractor continues to finalize the punch list items for the project. The boat house Certificate of Occupancy has been issued. The Community Center Certificate of Occupancy is anticipated on July 17th. Final project closeout is anticipated in 8 days.
11. Hawthorne Neighborhood Park Project:
Status Update: The contractor has commenced with the remaining work. Construction is anticipated to be completed in August 2017.
12. Dorchester Park Observation Platform
Status Update: The projects structural design is complete. We received the electrical design from our consultant. The project is currently in the bidding process. Construction is anticipated to commence in August 2017.
13. Binks Pointe Pathway Project
Status Update: Council approved the consulting engineering work order at the July 11th Council meeting. At the present time, the Purchasing Department is processing the consultant’s work order.
14. Brown Trail Expansion (C-11/C-15 Canal Improvements
Status Update: The project is currently under design by Mock Roos and Associates.
B. Miscellaneous Projects
1. Forest Hill Boulevard Drainage Improvement Project – Near Ken Adams Way
Status Update: The project is the fix of a potential flooding problem. The design was completed by the Engineering Department Staff. The pre-bid meeting was held on June 7th. Bids were received on June 21st. Council will consider the award of the bids at the August 8th Council meeting.
C. Permitted Projects
1. 40th Street Improvements – C-4/C-24 Culvert Project:
Status Update: Village staff continues to request an updated construction schedule from the developer’s contractor. Village staff’s review of the project and best guess indicates another 6 weeks until the project is substantially complete.
• The contractor has completed the roadway paving from just east of Mida Farms to South Road.
• The FPL light pole located at the Lake Worth Road and South Shore Boulevard intersection has been removed.
• The Lake Worth Road/South Shore Boulevard intersection pavement has not been completed to date. According to Sexton Engineering, the intersection will remain closed until the traffic signal becomes operational (estimated July 17th).
• The construction of the swales, canal and guard rail is continuing.
• FPL relocated the pole and their lines at the southeast corner of 40th Street and South Road. At the present time we are waiting on AT&T to relocate their facilities to the new pole prior to FPL removing their old pole located in the roadway pavement area.
